Existing
Pocket Synergy users - Synergy 1.9 uses a new database,
Firebird, which requires updated Inchware software if you wish to
continue using Pocket Synergy.
- You can install this new version if you're using either Synergy
1.8 or 1.9
- If you upgrade Synergy from 1.8 to 1.9 after installing
this version, Pocket Synergy must be reconfigured - please see here
Installation

- Go to your Clinical server
- Download and run the Pocket Synergy
full installer (PTServer-3.0.3.exe,12.5MB)
- Follow on-screen instructions which will guide you through
the installation

- Due to databases, you will not be able to synchronise until the
overnight database build has been run
First-time Pocket
Synergy users
- After the installation on the clinical server, configure required
desktop workstations:
- Windows Mobile users - install Microsoft ActiveSync before you
connect your handheld computer
- Run desktop installer S:\inchware\iClient\shared\install\Desktop\setup.exe
- Follow on-screen instructions which will guide you through
the installation
Upgrading from
earlier Pocket Synergy versions
- See here for latest
improvements / changes
- The patient demographics table has changed - you must
allow an overnight Pocket Synergy export to run before running
Sinch
- If you upgrade Synergy from 1.8 to 1.9 after
installing this version, Pocket Synergy must be reconfigured - please see here
- This version supports only AES-256 and 3DES-168
encryption
- AES-256 encryption requires Windows 2003 Server clinical
server and Windows XP desktops/laptops. Handhelds, if used, must be
Windows Mobile 5/6 devices
- 3DES-168 encryption will operate on any Windows 2000/XP
desktop. Pre-2004 handhelds, if used, may require an update - see here
- If you use our Docman integration, this must be
reconfigured before the next overnight run, otherwise the process will
fail

- After the installation on the clinical server, Sinch
workstations should prompt you to update when you click Synchronise

- If you are not prompted, then you're upgrading from an early
version of Pocket Synergy
- In this case, please run the desktop installer
- S:\inchware\iClient\shared\install\Desktop\setup.exe
- Pocket Appointments is no longer supported
- This has been removed to preclude possible security concerns
- WARNING:
Pocket Synergy version 1.2 users (last installed before February
2005):
- This version requires more disk space than version 1.2;
please ensure at least 10Gb free on S: drive
- You may require additional storage memory when synchronising
to handheld devices when upgrading from version 1.2
- Please note: this version does not
support HP Jornada 690 or 720
devices

Reconfiguring Pocket Synergy for Synergy 1.9
- If you upgrade to Synergy 1.9 after installing this version,
please reconfigure the software as follows:
- Start the Pocket Synergy Server Configuration
utility (shortcut on Clinical server desktop background)
- Click OK button
- All being well the configuration is now complete - the
utility will let you know if not.

Configuring hyperlinks / Apollo scanned
documents processing
- Start the configuration utility
- Pocket Synergy users:
double-click "Pocket Synergy Server Configuration" icon on your clinical server desktop
- Pocket Premiere users:
double-click "Pocket Premiere Server Configuration" icon on your clinical server desktop
- Click the Edit
Hyperlink Dirs button
- Click the Add
button
- First entry: click Lookup hyperlinks from
server
- Subsequent entries:
enter a full network path, including the Storage / DocStorage
folder
- e.g. \\CLINICAL\ApolloDocs\DocStorage
- NOT C:\ApolloDocs\DocStorage
- Press OK,
repeat as necessary
Configuring Docman scanned documents processing
- Select
'export' machine
- Docman 6 users
- If Docman is installed on your Clinical server, use this
- Otherwise, select any workstation with Docman installed which
is not switched off at night
- Docman 7 users
- If Docman is installed on your Clinical server, use this
- Otherwise, use your Docman server
- Docman 7 Notes:
- You must activate the 'Pocket
Docman' licence in the Docman System Administration 'Licence
Manager' before proceeding
- Once you have done this, log in to Docman from your
chosen machine before continuing further to complete the licence
activation
- Locate the
configuration utility
- Pocket Synergy users: open the folder
- S:\inchware\iClient\shared\tool\sconf
- Pocket Premiere users: open the folder
- \\CLINICAL\inchware\inchware\iClient\shared\tool\sconf
- If your clinical server is NOT called CLINICAL,
replace the word CLINICAL
above with your server name e.g. Z00123
- Double-click configure[.exe]
- Configure Docman
version
- Docman 6 users: clear the 'Docman 7'
box (circled above, top)
- Docman 7 users: tick the 'Docman 7'
box (circled above, top)
- Click the List cabinets
button
- Enter the number
of the 'Patients' cabinet into the "Cabinet ID' box (circled above,
centre)
- Enter the
Windows password in the Password box (circled above, bottom-right)
- Click OK
